The Grade I Hope to Teach and My Goals!

I wish to teach kindergarten or first grade. The reason I choice these grades was because I believe I would positively impact these children's lives. I choice such an early age due to the fact that the early we began in stealing in our students how to behave and do well in the classroom the more they will grow up to do great and marvelous things. However, it's not only about behavior but also values and how not every one may believe the same things. This is the reason I will emphasize respect.

My goals for the year's class:
(1.) Complete all curriculum required by the State for First Grade Level.
(2.) Have majority of students at the same reading level by the end of school.
(3.) Have higher CRT grades than the previous year.
(4.) Maintain classroom order and keep student's attention during fun activities.
(5.) Allow the students to enjoy learning by making learning more hands on.

Tools and Strategies I plan to use in the Classroom

First of all, I plan on beginning my first day or so getting to know one another. I plan to do fun little icebreakers that will get the children's attention and also introduce one another. Throughout the semester, I will incorporate activities that relate to the material that we will be discussing in class along. This will also include various activities that relate to the different seasons.

The class could sponge paint leaves when talking about the different seasons such as Fall. We could make liberty bells when discussing freedom during our history lesson. When doing math we could do use more hands on. We could also learn things through singing songs. Little riddles help so much for small students. When reading stories I plan to stop a few times to ask questions about the story and allow the students to respond.

Technology in the Classroom

This is the way I plan to incorporate technology in the classroom:
I plan to use podcast, websites.
Podcast will mainly be used for instructional use. I can teach the lesson and also record it so that students can listen at any time when he/she has a question. This would help reduce a lot of time in the classroom. Especially if its instructions for a project. I could give the students the instructions in writhing, go over them in class and also make a podcast so that the students would have extra help.

I would use websites for various reasons. One to gain ideas for lesson plans and fun crafts for the material we would be discussing. Second, too get the students involved in games that deal with the studying material. I believe technology could both benefit the students and me.

I also plan to use Blogs but that will be discussed in the next blog session.

My Expectations!

My expectations for this year's class:
Students:
(1.) Attendance is key to a fulfilled year of education.
(2.) Come in quietly and begin bell ringer for the day.
(3.) Participate in all mandatory activities.
(4.) Put a 110% in completing all assignments.
(5.) Have fun!

Parents:
(1.) Help children with homework and any extra practice they need.
(2.) Participate in any activities that are considered educational. (PTO)
(3.) Volunteer to be chaperons on field trips.

Blogs!

I plan to have a class blog.
This blog would be used to post homework and important events for the school year. It would involve a calender for the class and the school. Parents and students would be able to access the blog and write comments when they wish. It will also include pictures from various activities done in the class.

The second blog will be for the students.
The students will be responsible for making weekly post, and commenting to at least one other persons blog post. The parents will be able to view this blog as well.
